On October 14, the China Photovoltaic Industry Association held a "Symposium to prevent vicious competition in the industry" in Shanghai to jointly discuss the orderly resolution of the imbalance between supply and demand, clearing excess capacity and other relevant measures.

This symposium is held at a time when the photovoltaic industry is Mired in the dilemma of internal competition, and the purpose is to reach a series of "gentlemen's agreements" in the whole industry. This symposium is very large, not only the photovoltaic manufacturing industry chain in the middle and downstream core enterprises to participate, Such as green longji (15.620, 0.31, 1.95%) shares, tong wei (20.060, 0.71, 3.42%), crystal energy (8.100, 0.06, 0.74%), ja science and technology (13.400, 0.27, 2.06%), GCL Technology, Aixu (8.840, -0.08, -0.90%), Chint New Energy, Goking Solar (4.680, -0.09, -1.89%), and top industry figures also attended the event. Such as Longi Green Energy chairman Zhong Baoshen, Jinke Energy chairman Li Xiande, GCL Technology co-CEO LAN Tianshi, Aixu shares chairman Chen Gang and so on. It is enough to show that this symposium is not a general talk, but hope to produce results.

How does the industry get into trouble because of the internal competition? This can be seen in statistics released by the National Energy Administration. From January to August this year, China's new photovoltaic installed capacity of 139.99GW, an increase of 23.71%, the demand side continued to grow steadily. However, the price of the industrial chain has fallen, and silicon materials, silicon wafers, batteries, and components have all suffered from volume increases and price reductions, and many companies have suffered cash losses. This is obviously not conducive to the development of enterprises, and even poses a threat to the survival of enterprises.

While demand and sales are rising, most companies are operating at a loss and cash flow is tight. The relevant parties who participated in this forum are holding the attitude of solving urgent problems, such as discussing and reaching an industry self-discipline convention on "anti-internal competition, anti-dumping below cost" and other contents, introducing relevant measures to orderly resolve the imbalance between supply and demand, clearing excess capacity, and putting forward other suggestions to guide the healthy and orderly development of the industry.

Originally, China's photovoltaic industry has a bright future. For example, the 2024 Renewable Energy Report released by the International Energy Agency on October 9 pointed out that in the next six years, China's photovoltaic power generation will lead the global renewable energy industry. Renewable energy projects will be launched three times faster in the next six years than in the past six years, the report said.
